Be intentional! It’s not the first time you’ve heard that, but what does it mean to you? To me it’s activating my choice maker – shifting every talent and gift I have towards achieving the goals I have for today – my top daily goal is to show love others.
I put my focus on short term goals to reach to get long term results – long term as in eternity. The only thing I can take with me when I leave this world are the relationships I build. That’s why being a blessing to others is my priority.
This world would have you focused on making yourself happy. It also try’s to convince you the way to be happy is to be financially secure – to be more accurate, it wants you to love money. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe that wanting money is evil. In fact I believe the more money you have the better – as long as money doesn’t become your god.
God wants us to be a blessing to others – giving money is just one way. Money is a tool, and when used properly it can be a great blessing. But it can also do a tremendous amount of damage when used selfishly. But know this, money isn’t necessary to bless people. Think about it. How much does it cost to be nice? How about the cost of a smile? Better yet, how much would it set you back to be present and just listen? What’s really needed is your time.
Some may say, “time is money”, but that’s not true. Time is far more valuable – that’s why it we must be intentional about how we invest it. You can invest wisely if you understand the difference between your resources and the Source.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:31-33
The blessings of God flow through us – if we allow them, and is experienced in our relationships as we do life together. God has supplied everything we need. If you trust Him, you will find that you can’t out give Him.
