Walking In The Spirit

The Apostle Paul explained how to live a victorious life – free from sin, in very simple terms…

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

However, it’s a heck of a lot easier said than done. Why? I realized that there were things that I enjoyed doing that weren’t fruitful for me, and much less for the Kingdom of God. There are plenty of things to do to past time – the key is doing things intentionally. For example, in my casual conversations, I seek to learn something that will help me bless the person I’m talking to. Just having that mind set motivates me to strike up a conversation with anybody.

In my daily walk, I intentionally look for opportunities to apply what I study in Scripture. It makes what I study come alive. By teaching what I learn, verbally and by taking action, I discovered the Truth of God’s word – it became real to me.

I have been asked how I broke away from destructive behavior. My answer is how I describe walking in the Spirit – I am focused on finding a way to bless someone else, so I don’t have time to drift into destructive behaviors. I stopped looking to escape and started standing firm in the Truth.
