Click bait – I define as the art of enticing or attracting attention with a text, link, or image, to get someone to view a particular website. There is no end to post by or about would be celebrities – and some controversial thing that they said or did. In most cases the information you are brought to has no real value to or impact on your life. So why does it work? The truth is we get triggered – and the real question is, why were we triggered?
When I asked myself this question I realized that in most cases the trigger was something in me that needed to die. In other words, I had a hang-up, or a deeply held view that I didn’t want challenged. Here’s the problem with that – everything becomes relative when truth is not sought. The result is chaos and eventually everything loses meaning. How do we stay grounded? We first have to understand that it’s a battle for our minds. The word of God tells us how we fight:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
II Corinthians 10:4-6
We know the Truth, and it is the truth that sets us free – from lies, fear, hate, or any other trick the enemy uses to steal your peace.
