Knowing or just believing is not enough – I have to believe and trust to the point of reliance on Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a relationship with Christ Jesus – a relationship that allows me to be used by Him to bless others. I’m not waiting for a move of God – He commanded me to move. Jesus sent my helper, Holy Spirit, to guide me to all truth as I go. I know what to do because I have, believe, and trust His word – so I hear His voice. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27)
If knowing is enough, then Pilot was a Christian. “While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.” (Matthew 27:19)
If knowing is enough, then the centurion who guarded Jesus was a Christian. He said; “…Truly this was the Son of God.” (Matthew 27:54)
If knowing is enough, then the devil is a Christian. “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” (James 2:19)
Eleven men, who relied on Jesus – doing what they were commanded to do, changed the world. They didn’t have letters behind their names, they didn’t have money – they had nothing material that marks success in today’s world. But they had all they needed – the Truth and the supernatural power of His love. That same power dwells within me, to be used through me – as I choose to believe, trust, and obey His command to love others the same way He did.
The victory is already won. My task is to stand firm, and not give up one square inch – my enemy has a scorched earth agenda. The enemy comes “…to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” (John 10:10) – and he really doesn’t care if he does it fast or agonizingly slow. He just wants me dead. But I realized he can’t do a thing to me without my agreement – when I resist he has to flee (James 4:7). I have a guarantee of a victorious life, but I have to choose to walk it out.
