“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
The Word is very clear, when we receive Christ we become a new creation – practically a new species. Yes, it’s true you may not look different on the outside physically (at least not initially), but your spirit is made new. Your renewed spirit is where the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now resides.
Your outward transformation happens as you renew your mind by believing and obeying God’s Word. The power within you is released when your mind and will lines up with your renewed spirit (Romans 12:1-2).
During this process of transformation, many new believers have their past thrown in their faces -in most cases by the church. I’m here to tell you, that’s not Biblical. God is not working through any person who is bringing up your past because that’s religion. God wants a relationship with you.
God is not concerned about your past, He has a plan and purpose for your life right now – that’s why Jesus came. Jesus provided Salvation for everyone. All we have to do is receive it by faith, regardless of your past. In the Word, you see that not a single person who came to Jesus to be healed was saved – and He healed them all! That’s the compassion we should all have for each other.
When you received Christ, your were given every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3-4), so you don’t even have to pray to be blessed – you are! We walk in true freedom and blessings by obeying the Word, not religious doctrines. Don’t allow anyone to guilt or shame you – love is what God wants. Love is not a feeling, it’s an action. God loves you and He wants to love others through you. The choice is yours and yours alone to answer His call on your life.
