The world can’t offer you peace – nor does it really want to. The evil in this world however, will never stop promising and promoting a utopia that cost you your soul. In order to have peace, I found there’s two things I have to do daily:
First, I acknowledge Jesus Christ is my source for everything. The world can offer resources but everything have to be replenished from the Source. Praise Jesus we direct access to what we need;
…“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Second thing I do is spend a lot more time unplugged. I write my devotions down in my notes as I spend time listening to Jesus. I focus on what He says about my situation and what He is doing in my life as the Word teaches … “so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:5). While I’m unplugged from the insanity of media, I can also be intentional about setting my mind on positive things as the Word says; … “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
Focusing on the Truth is critical because we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). What’s in your mind goes to your heart, what’s in your heart controls what you say and consequently what you do. Controlling the tongue is nearly impossible (James 3:6-8), so I want to have my mind right before I open my mouth. The world knows this and bombards you with deceptive information – that’s the power play.
Brothers and sisters, be strong and courageous, there is no need for us to fear what’s happening in the world – Jesus is in control, we just need to keep our focus on Him.
