I have a love /hate relationship with my bathroom scale. I rarely get on it because I don’t want to see what it says – unless of course I feel like I’ve been exceptionally good with my eating and exercise habits that week. Even on those really good weeks, almost without fail, my scale and I don’t agree on my efforts. Unfortunately for my ego, it’s not the scale’s job to show me what I feel.
I believe in our humanity, we tend to relate to God the same way. Understand we would all see the same thing if we step on God’s scale. We have to remember that His scale detects sin (no matter great or small) and determines life or death when you stand on it. I praise God that He sent Jesus to stand on it for us!
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Emotions are running at an all time high lately and we need to get them in check. God is Spirit and He speaks to your spirit – your spirit voice needs to be heard. Your emotions are the voice of your flesh. How you treat and what you say to others will tell you a lot about which voice you listen to. Your mind and spirit must be lined up to drown out your flesh (Romans 12:2).
