You are not saved by works, but saved for work…
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
There should be no doubt that racism and hatred is acquired. My mother and father experienced it, but they didn’t teach it to me. I saw it growing up, but I chose not to let it influence my relationships. My children are interracial and I see the beauty that multiple cultures can make together.
We were designed for good works – loving and caring for one another. We say that love is hard. But I believe it’s only difficult when you expect something in return. God’s love isn’t merit based – why is ours? God designed you to be a conduit, not an absorber. Think about it, we have warning labels for a reason. When you use something for a purpose it wasn’t intended – the results are usually not pretty. The Bible is our owners manual. Our purpose and how to troubleshoot instructions are in there. We have no reason to fear the problems of today – we just need to start working for the purpose we were designed.
