Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness… rights unquestionably given by God to everyone, but they should also be viewed from a Biblical perspective. Otherwise we lose the true meaning of this declaration – which can not be defined on man’s relative scale. I believe the Lord has shown me that life and liberty are heavily dependent on our pursuits.
In our country’s current state, how much would a little truth be worth to you? How about someone simply keeping their word? The Bible tells us; “A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, Favor is better than silver and gold. The rich and the poor have a common bond, The LORD is the maker of them all.” (Proverbs 22:1-2)
I’m sure it’s hard to measure the difficulty of being a person of integrity in D.C. – but that’s the standard we should seek. Before we start pointing fingers, let’s understand the hard truth – D.C. is simply a mirror because we are still a representative republic (I pray we can keep it). The image that we see changes when we change. That mirror can reflect the fruit of the Spirit, or our Self Indulgent Nature – it all depends on how you choose to define life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
